Biography
John Wright is a naturalist, author and foraging expert based in West Dorset. He has written nine acclaimed books on the British countryside, including several in the River Cottage Handbook series, The Naming of the Shrew, and The Observant Walker, with a new title on grasslands due in 2025. In addition to writing, he contributes to magazines, gives lectures and regularly appears on radio. One of the UK’s most experienced foray leaders, John has led over 1,000 walks since 1992, sharing his deep knowledge of fungi, wild plants, and the natural world with warmth, insight and humour.
