Join us for this 6 week art course, where you can relax, reconnect and take inspiration from the beautiful surroundings here on the estate. Under the expert tuition of talented local artist Helen Garrett, you'll have the opportunity to explore a range of materials and artistic techniques throughout the course.
Drawing often requires a particular kind of attention as we work with our subject. Using natural form as inspiration we will create a space for curiosity and wonder - bringing our attention to the intricate patterns and rhythms of the natural world in all its diversity and strengthening our own sense of connection and belonging.
We will celebrate how each of us are inherently creative and have a unique style approach to making art. We notice that every living organism stands in relation to another and inhabits an important role in its own unique way.
Symondsbury Estate stretches over 1500 acres of farmland and ancient woodland in beautiful West Dorset and explores regenerative farming techniques. ' A place full of bugs, bees, butterflies, beasts, bushes, bogs and blooms ' and is truly wonderful.
We will experiment with a variety of materials including graphite, charcoal, Chinese brush, ink paint and clay. Poetry and music will be woven into our learning to inspire a sensory and imaginative approach to the subject.
Date: The course commences on Thursday 13th February 2025 and runs weekly, for 6 consecutive weeks.
