Led by Sarah Robinson, this fun and creative course will guide you through the designing, carving, inking and printing process.
The day will suit both complete beginners and those who'd like to brush up on their linocut skills. Inspiration for designs will be gathered from looking at the flowers, grasses and seed heads which can be found within the surroundings here at Symondsbury Estate as well as within referenced books which will be available on the day.
Tools and materials will be provided, including recycled greeting card blanks, labels, wrapping paper, postcards and good quality paper. There will also be a range of different coloured inks.
You will finish the creative day with a collection of unique prints and greeting cards to take away, plus your own lino blocks which you can continue to use time and time again.
About Sarah
Sarah trained in graphic design and illustration at Bath Art Collage, graduating in the early 1990's, and has been a practicing artist ever since.
After attending an inspirational and immersive weekend course of lino cut about 15 years ago, she now focuses mainly on printmaking. She is passionate about the countryside and creates decorative prints, with nature providing the reference for the designs; mainly close-up details of plants and flowers but also wider views and subjects from the countryside.
For 10 years Sarah was a part of an artist's co-operative in Shaftesbury and then moved on to run a shop selling her own work and that of other local makers. From there, she ran popular printmaking workshops and needle felting classes.
Now selling her cards and prints through several shops and a selection of local events as well as through her Etsy store.
Sarah loves the opportunities that running workshops provides - collaborating with inspirational venues, the sociability of meeting new people and, of course, the pleasure of passing on the skills needed to make successful linocuts.
