Carve Your Very Own Lino Block to Hand-Print Festive Fabric Bunting!
In this creative workshop, you will be provided with all the ideas and materials needed to block print approximately 8 squares of festive bunting, which you can take home to assemble and display.
No special drawing skills are required to enjoy this class, as a selection of designs will be available for you to trace. The carving and printing processes will be clearly demonstrated.
Fabric squares will be provided, along with all the other materials needed, including traditional lino mounted on a block measuring 7.5 x 7.5 cm, carving tools, and a range of coloured inks.
Your printed patches may be slightly damp at the end of the session, so they will need to air dry naturally before being made into bunting at home. If you want your bunting to be washable, you can heat set it using an iron (instructions will be included).
There may also be an opportunity to purchase extra supplies on the day (cash payments only).
About Sarah
Sarah, who lives in Shaftesbury North Dorset, trained in graphic design and illustration at Bath Art Collage, graduating in the early 1990's, and has been a practicing artist ever since.
After attending an inspirational and immersive weekend course of lino cut about 15 years ago, she now focuses mainly on printmaking. She is passionate about the countryside and creates decorative prints, with nature providing the reference for the designs; mainly close-up details of plants and flowers but also wider views and subjects from the countryside.
Lino is such a versatile medium and Sarah has more recently started printing onto fabric and is delighted to find a whole world of possibilities for her designs!
She loves the opportunities that running a workshop provides - collaborating with inspirational venues, the sociability of meeting new people and, of course, the pleasure of passing on the skills needed to make successful linocuts.
The best thing about running a workshop is witnessing the moment of delight as a student sees their print appear from a simple, inky block of lino for the first time.
